La loge Mary Cassatt was a great painter and creator of drawings. Degas constantly praised her high talent. This small but important drawing depicts a scene in which a couple is glimpsed in the gallery of a theater. Drawn from life in her personal notebook, the drawing is of particular importance because it was made side by side with her friend Degas, who also depicted the same scene in his notebook of sketches.
