Bords du Loing: la Charrette
In 1890 Sisley participated in the second exhibition of the Société des Peintres-Graveurs alongside Félix Buhot, Norbert Goeneutte and Odilon Redon. He sent 4 etchings to this exhibition, which remained very rare examples within his oeuvre, as these works were the only ones he engraved during his entire career. The etching “Bords du Loing: la Charrette” was printed in a few copies and testifies to the artist's approach to this new art. The work is one of the most successful of these trials and is perfectly representative of the artist's taste for detail and great care, which he brought to landscapes and scenes of everyday life.
