Pierre Bonnard
Paysage
These small drawings are typical of the work of Bonnard, who would often employ small scrapbooks or notebook pages, cut into small sheets, which he’d use to sketch out notes and ideas, later to be brought into his paintings. These are comparable with the other drawings similar in size, type of paper and succession of ideas which are exhibited and kept at the Bonnard Museum, located in the old studio house in Le Cannet. Exhibited on numerous occasions, they are part of the depiction of Bonnard's private and intimate world.
